Lin Laurin

Lin Laurin

is a Swedish born, Los Angeles based actor/filmmaker/producer. She has been performing in theatre since she was 10 years old, and landed her first TV role in a mini soap opera series called PIM on Swedish national television, SVT, at the age of 11. Lin attended performing arts school in Malmö, Sweden and studied privately with the Swedish actress Ulla Rhode during the afternoons. After high school, she attended a Physical Theatre/Stage Art Conservatory program at Den Rytmiske Daghøjskolan in Copenhagen, Denmark. The intensive acting training left Lin eager to learn more, and immediately after graduation, she enrolled in the 2-year Meisner training program at William Esper Studio in New York City, where she studied under Terry Knickerbocker. She later completed the school’s Master Scene Study class under William Esper. Having been a freelance actor in New York for a few years has made her realize that some opportunities come to you out of sheer luck, but most of them you have to create for yourself. Lin founded the Brooklyn based company, Perf Productions, together with Maria Aparo, Leah Bachar, and Meredith Edwards. Some of her favorite performance experiences have been with Perf. Another company in New York City that has kept inspiring her is The Living Theatre, and Lin has been lucky enough to get to perform in and help produce a variety of Living Theatre productions over the years. Lin has worked in both the US and Europe and over the years, she has been in over 30 plays and about 20 films, including multimedia productions. She has done voice-overs for documentaries and animated films, interactive theater, commercials, performance art and so on. This summer she will play the lead role, Thale, in the new short film Doll Parts, which she also is directing. Lin loves film and theatre deeply and hopes to be able to keep working in the industry for the rest of her life.
